374Water Inc. is pleased to announce it is a winner of the first phase of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Water Resource Recovery Prize.

“Our award-winning SCWO technology will transition wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) to water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs), while eliminating emerging contaminants like PFAS, microplastics, and pharmaceuticals.”

The Water Resource Recovery Prize is part of the Water Security Grand Challenge, a White House initiated, Department of Energy led framework to advance transformational technology and innovation to meet the global need for safe, secure, and affordable water. Using a coordinated suite of prizes, competitions, early-stage research and development, and other programs, the Grand Challenge has set the five ambitious goals for the United States to reach by 2030 including double resource recovery from municipal wastewater.

Through the prize competition, the U.S. is seeking novel, systems-based solutions to implement resource recovery at small- to medium-sized water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs). The expectation is that WRRFs will progress toward the goal of doubling resource recovery and accelerate the transition from conventional wastewater treatment to a model of resource recovery from municipal wastewater across the United States.
