CustomID, the Duke Management Guide for Adult Infectious Diseases

Duke University is seeking a company interested in commercializing a novel, customizable web-based management tool for accurate diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Optimal infectious diseases (ID) management requires that several institution specific factors such as local antimicrobial resistance profiles and formulary constraints be considered. Attempts have been made by some institutions to address this need through paper-based ID manuals, but these manuals are difficult to update in a timely manner and are often published in formats that are cumbersome to access. Currently available electronic ID management guides do not take such institution-specific factors into consideration. Duke researchers have addressed this need in developing CustomIDĀ©, an ID management tool that supports rapid dissemination of institution-specific content on Web, Palm, and Pocket PC platforms.
