MRI-guided radiation therapy: A novel approach to 3D dosimetry verification)

A novel 3D remote dosimetry protocol is described capable of validation of advanced radiation treatments (including MR-IGRT). The protocol uses large (e.g. 2kg) radiochromic plastic dosimeters (made of PRESAGE material) irradiated at a field institution, and then shipped back to a home Institution for delayed read-out by optical-CT a week or more after treatment. This invention proposes two small novel corrections that are required to account for temporal and spatially-dependent behaviors observed in PRESAGE dosimeters between irradiation and readout on this time scale.
