Researchers at Duke University have developed a device that integrates the accessory biomedical sensors into the case of the scanner display and into the transducer probe handle. This technology also has the following capabilities:
• A cardiac ultrasound scan can obtain several ECG differential signals for simultaneous displays with the ultrasound scan • Includes a microphone sensor to acquire a phonocardiogram for audible and/or graphical display • The electrodes and microphone can be superimposed on the front of the array surface using thin membrane electrodes and acoustic sensors which do not interfere with the propagating ultrasound waves.
