A protein to enhance aged bone fracture healing

The capacity for tissues to repair and regenerate diminishes with age. In vivo bone repair and in vitro differentiation of bone marrow stromal cells to osteoblasts is more efficient in young animals than old animals. The etiology of this discrepancy is not known. We have used a novel protein to enhance fracture healing and osteoblastic differentiation in mouse models of age.
